Lighting Color Keys with Marco Bucci

nebbie91 asked: Do you have any tips on how to draw anthropomorphic female animal characters so that their body shape stays faithful to that of their species aside from being bipedal? Many female animal characters in cartoons and video games, like Minerva Mink (Animaiacs), Krystal (Star Fox), and Kitty Katswell (TUFF Puppy), are drawn with completely humanoid body shapes to make them look feminine.

Unfortunately, I’m completely inexperienced when it comes to things like this, however, I know a lot of people praise Nico Marlet’s character design work because of his portrayal of female animal characters? Perhaps take a look at some of his sketches for Kung Fu Panda?

Followers!! Can you help me out on this one?

FEETS

Hey guys!! someone asked for feet, so here ya go.

To be honest though, I think the best advice for stuff like feet/hands is to literally just sit down and draw your own any chance you get. Seeing it move in space was super helpful for me.

hey guys!! sorry I’ve been so swamped lately.

queuing stuff right now……have you been practicing? :> hope so!!

Anatomy: A Complete Guide for Artists Joseph Sheppard

Buy it for $10, honestly worth it.

Ah! I actually have this book! It’s nice and really really cheap.. I think I actually got mine used for about $5? Only thing I’d say is that DEFINITELY do not use this as your sole anatomy book and make sure you pick up bridgeman or hampton.. the latter helped me see muscle grouping much better and the former helped me a lot when I began to stylize muscles.

But, ya! Maybe peruse through a pdf and see if you like it? I mostly just use pdf’s but I find it handy to have at least one or two non-digital anatomy books to reference every now and again

I got a few people asking about the little “exercises” I give myself to do when I need to warm up, break out of art block, or just have fun doodling… so here’s one for you guys to try! It’s basically like that color scheme meme that was floating around, except you make your own color schemes.
